Day 1: West Coast Wonders & Marine Life
National Museum of Marine Biology & Aquarium

Houbihu Seafood Market

Day 4: Forest Exploration & East Coast Breezes
Kenting National Forest Recreation Area
Explore the high-altitude coral reefs and ancient banyan trees. The main paths are paved and stroller-friendly, leading to a lookout tower with 360-degree views of the peninsula.
Jialeshui Scenic Area
Take the park's electric tram (perfect for tired little legs) to view unique rock formations shaped by the sea and wind along the rugged eastern coastline.
Fongchuisha

Best Time & Weather
The best time to visit Kenting is during the shoulder seasons of March to May and October to November. During these months, the weather is pleasantly warm (around 25°C to 28°C) and the humidity is lower. Summer (June to September) can be extremely hot and is also typhoon season, which may disrupt travel plans. Winters are mild but can be quite windy due to the 'downhill winds' characteristic of the peninsula.
Currency & Money
Kenting uses the New Taiwan Dollar (TWD). While major hotels and the National Museum accept credit cards, the Night Market, local seafood stalls, and smaller shops are strictly cash-only. There are several 7-Eleven and FamilyMart convenience stores throughout Kenting and Hengchun with ATMs that accept international cards. Tipping is not expected in Taiwan, though a 10% service charge is often added to restaurant bills.
Getting Around
While the 'Kenting Express' bus connects Kaohsiung to Kenting, getting around the attractions is best done via car rental or hiring a private driver for the day, especially when traveling with children and strollers. For the more adventurous, electric scooters are available for rent in the main town, but they are generally not recommended for families with small children due to safety and luggage constraints.
