You'll be utilizing the local shuttle bus system, staying in social dormitories, and eating like a local at the stalls in Hengchun and along the Kenting strip. Day 1: Kenting - The Southern Tip & Coastal Wonders
Eluanbi Lighthouse
Start your journey at the iconic southern point of Taiwan. While there is a small entrance fee, the sprawling park offers white-washed architecture and stunning views of the Bashi Channel. Walk the coastal wooden paths through the coral formations.
Longpan Park
Catch the local bus or hike up to this limestone plateau. It offers a dramatic view of the Pacific Ocean crashing against the cliffs. It is completely free and provides one of the most 'epic' photo opportunities in the region.
Sail Rock (Chuanfan Rock)

Nanwan (South Bay)

Chuogo (Eternal Flame)
Located just outside Hengchun, this unique natural phenomenon features natural gas seeping through the ground, creating small 'eternal' flames. It's a surreal and free sight to see as evening approaches.
Hengchun Sunday Night Market
If you are lucky enough to be here on a Sunday, skip the Kenting strip and head to this local market. The prices are lower, and the food is more authentic, catering to the residents rather than just tourists.
Day 3: Kenting, Taiwan - Nature & Secluded Coves
Sheding Nature Park
This is a fantastic free alternative to the paid Forest Recreation Area. Hike through coral caves and lush greenery. Keep an eye out for Formosan Sika deer and a variety of tropical butterflies.
Maobitou Park
Visit the 'Cat's Nose' rock formation on the western peninsula. The panoramic views of the coastline are breath-taking. It's a great spot to appreciate the geological diversity of the national park.
Xiaowan (Little Bay)
End your trip at this tucked-away cove located at the end of the main street. It’s smaller and often quieter than Nanwan, making it the perfect place for a final sunset swim before heading back to your hostel.

Save your final dollars by visiting a local 7-Eleven for a surprisingly high-quality microwave meal or bento box, then head back to your hostel common room to share stories with fellow travelers.
Best Time & Weather
The best time to visit Kenting is from October to April when the weather is warm but the humidity and rainfall are lower. This avoids the peak typhoon season and the extreme heat of mid-summer. Even in winter, temperatures rarely drop below 20°C (68°F), making it a year-round destination for sun-seekers.
Currency & Money
The currency is the New Taiwan Dollar (TWD). Kenting is very cash-heavy, especially at the night markets and for local bus fares. While convenience stores like 7-Eleven and larger hotels take credit cards (and EasyCard), always carry enough cash for your daily meals and small attractions. Tipping is not expected in Taiwan.
Getting Around
The Kenting Express bus connects Kaohsiung to Kenting in about 2 hours. Once in Kenting, the 'Kenting Shuttle' (Orange and Blue lines) is the most budget-friendly way to reach major landmarks. If you are traveling in a small group, renting a shared electric scooter is a popular but more expensive alternative to the bus.
