Best Time to Visit Middle East
The absolute best window for this multi-country route is from March to April. During these spring months, the 'blooming' season is in full effect—specifically the rose harvests in Oman's Jebel Akhdar and the vibrant floral displays in Dubai's Miracle Garden. Temperatures range from a comfortable 22°C to 30°C (72°F to 86°F), which is ideal for coastal activities without the oppressive humidity of the summer months. Winter (December to February) is also pleasant but can occasionally be a bit chilly for swimming in the Gulf.
Visas & Border Crossings
For most Western passports, Oman, the UAE, and Qatar offer easy entry. Oman often provides a 14-day visa-free entry for many nationalities, while the UAE and Qatar usually grant a free 'Visa on Arrival'. However, always check the latest regulations for your specific citizenship. When traveling between these countries, flights are the most convenient method. While land borders exist between Oman and the UAE, they can be time-consuming for families; a 1-hour flight is much more kid-friendly and offers incredible aerial views of the coastline.
Getting Around Middle East
The most efficient way to navigate this 'Eastern' route is a combination of short-haul flights and private car rentals. Airlines like Emirates, FlyDubai, and Qatar Airways offer frequent and affordable shuttle flights between Muscat, Dubai, and Doha. Within the cities, Dubai has an excellent Metro and Tram system, while Doha’s Metro is one of the most advanced and cleanest in the world. In Oman, a rental car or private driver is highly recommended as public transport is limited outside of Muscat. Taxis and ride-sharing apps like Uber and Careem are widely available and safe in all three countries.
