Best Time to Visit Singapore
Singapore is a year-round destination due to its tropical climate, but the best time to visit is from February to April during the dry season. During these months, you'll experience less rainfall and slightly lower humidity. Avoid the year-end (November to January) if you don't like heavy rain, and keep an eye on the 'Haze' season (usually June to September) which can occasionally affect air quality due to regional agricultural fires.
Currency & Money
The local currency is the Singapore Dollar (SGD). While Singapore is becoming increasingly cashless with contactless payments (Visa/Mastercard) accepted almost everywhere including buses and trains, you should still carry cash for hawker centers. Most hawker stalls now accept QR payments (PayLah/GrabPay), but physical cash is still the most reliable way to pay for a $4 meal. Tipping is not expected and is generally not practiced in Singapore.
Getting Around Singapore
The Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) and the public bus system are your best friends. They are incredibly efficient, clean, and cheap. You don't need a special pass; just tap your contactless credit/debit card or phone (Apple/Google Pay) on the readers. Avoid taxis and ride-hailing apps like Grab if you are on a strict budget, as surge pricing can be significant. Walking is also very feasible in the central areas, as many buildings are connected by underground or sheltered walkways.
