Best Time to Visit Qatar
The best time to visit Qatar is between November and March. During these winter months, the weather is pleasantly cool, with temperatures ranging from 18°C to 25°C (64°F to 77°F), making it ideal for desert excursions and outdoor dining. Summer (May to September) is extremely hot, often exceeding 45°C (113°F), which limits activities to indoor malls and museums.
Currency & Money
The local currency is the Qatari Riyal (QAR), which is pegged to the US Dollar at a rate of approximately 3.64 QAR to 1 USD. Credit cards are universally accepted in hotels, malls, and fine-dining restaurants. However, it is useful to carry some cash for small purchases in Souq Waqif. Tipping is not mandatory but appreciated; 10-15% is standard in high-end restaurants if a service charge is not already included.
Getting Around Qatar
For a luxury experience, the best way to get around is by private chauffeur or high-end car rentals. Doha also boasts the world-class Doha Metro, which features a Gold Club (First Class) carriage for a premium commute. For intercity travel to places like Al Khor or Zekreet, a private 4x4 vehicle is highly recommended. Domestic flights are not necessary as the country is compact and easily traversable by road.
