The ideal time to visit Qatar is between November and March. Summer (June to September) can be extremely hot, with temperatures often exceeding 45°C (113°F), making outdoor activities difficult during the day.
Currency & Money
The local currency is the Qatari Riyal (QAR), which is pegged to the US Dollar at a rate of 3.64 QAR per 1 USD. Credit cards are universally accepted in hotels, malls, and restaurants. However, it is useful to carry some cash for smaller purchases in Souq Waqif. Tipping is not mandatory but is appreciated; 10-15% is standard in luxury dining establishments if a service charge is not already included.
Getting Around Qatar
Within Doha, the Doha Metro is one of the most advanced and cleanest systems in the world, with a dedicated Gold Class for luxury travelers. For intercity travel, such as moving from Doha to Al Khor or Zekreet, private chauffeured luxury SUVs are the most comfortable and common method for high-end travelers. Rental cars are also available at the airport, but many luxury tourists prefer the convenience of a dedicated private driver for the duration of their stay.
