AQWA (Aquarium of Western Australia)
Located at Hillarys, this aquarium features a stunning underwater tunnel where sharks and rays swim right over your head. It’s fully air-conditioned and stroller-friendly.
Farewell Dinner at the Harbour
Choose from dozens of restaurants overlooking the water. It’s the perfect place to toast to a successful family holiday as the sun sets over the Indian Ocean.
Best Time & Weather
The best time to visit Perth for families is during Spring (September to November) or Autumn (March to May). During these months, the weather is pleasantly warm with temperatures ranging from 20°C to 26°C, making outdoor activities comfortable for children. Summers can be very hot (often exceeding 35°C), while Winters are mild but can be rainy.
Currency & Money
The local currency is the Australian Dollar (AUD). Australia is a world leader in digital payments; you can use tap-and-go credit or debit cards (Visa/Mastercard) almost everywhere, including small cafes and public transport. Tipping is not mandatory or expected in Australia, though rounding up the bill at a nice restaurant is appreciated for good service.
Getting Around
Perth’s Transperth system is excellent. Within the CBD, the CAT buses are free and run frequently. For the ferry and trains, buy a SmartRider card or use the 'SmartRider' app for discounted fares. Most stations have elevators and designated spaces on trains for strollers. For trips to Swan Valley or Hillarys, renting a car for a day or two is recommended for convenience.
