Best Time to Visit Macau
The best time to visit Macau with a family is during the autumn and early winter months, from October to December. During this period, the weather is pleasantly cool and dry, making it ideal for walking with strollers and exploring outdoor heritage sites. Spring (March to April) is also pleasant but can be humid. Avoid the summer months of July and August if possible, as they are hot, rainy, and prone to typhoons, which may limit outdoor activities.
Currency & Money
The local currency is the Macanese Pataca (MOP), which is pegged to the Hong Kong Dollar (HKD). HKDs are widely accepted everywhere at a 1:1 ratio, though you might receive change in MOP. Major credit cards and mobile payment systems like Alipay and WeChat Pay are accepted in most hotels, malls, and restaurants.
