Best Time & Weather
The best time to visit Las Vegas with a family is during the shoulder seasons of spring (March to May) and fall (September to November). During these months, the weather is pleasantly warm, typically ranging from 70°F to 85°F (21°C to 29°C), making outdoor activities and pool time enjoyable. Avoid the peak of summer (June to August), as temperatures frequently exceed 100°F (38°C), which can be dangerous for small children and makes walking the Strip difficult.
Currency & Money
The local currency is the US Dollar (USD). Credit and debit cards are universally accepted at all major attractions, restaurants, and shops. It is helpful to carry a small amount of cash for tipping—standard tipping culture in Las Vegas is 15-20% at restaurants and a few dollars for valet or bellhops. ATMs are widely available, though those inside casinos often charge higher transaction fees.
Getting Around
While the Strip is walkable, the distances between resorts are often longer than they look. For families with strollers, the Las Vegas Monorail is a convenient, air-conditioned way to travel the length of the Strip. For trips off the Strip, like Red Rock Canyon or Downtown, ride-sharing apps like Uber and Lyft are efficient and offer 'Car Seat' options for an extra fee. If you plan on doing multiple day trips, renting a car is the most flexible and cost-effective choice.
