Start your trip at the main Kep Beach. This crescent of white sand is perfect for kids to build sandcastles. The wide boardwalk is completely stroller-accessible and offers a refreshing sea breeze.
Kep Crab Market (Phsar Kdam)
Witness the local tradition of hauling crab baskets from the sea. It is a colorful, educational experience for children. Many stalls offer cooked-to-order seafood that is fresh and affordable.
The Giant Crab Statue
Take a short walk from the market to this iconic landmark. It’s a great photo spot for the family and provides a clear view of the Gulf of Thailand.
Waterfront Sunset Dinner
Choose one of the wooden restaurants built on stilts over the water. The atmosphere is casual, making it easy for families with energetic children to enjoy a meal.
Day 2: Kep, Cambodia - Nature and Butterflies
Kep National Park
Enter the park near Led Zep Cafe. The main 8km loop is relatively flat and wide enough for a sturdy stroller. It’s a shaded jungle walk where you might spot monkeys and tropical birds.
Led Zep Cafe Lunch
Located at the park entrance, this cafe offers stunning views and a relaxed vibe. It’s a perfect spot to rest after your morning walk.
Kep Butterfly Garden
A small, private oasis filled with local butterfly species. It is an enchanting and educational stop for children that isn't overwhelming in size.
The Sailing Club Sunset
A more upscale but very family-friendly venue. The kids can play on the lawn or the pier while parents enjoy a cocktail during the golden hour.
Day 3: Kep, Cambodia - Island Adventure
Koh Tonsay (Rabbit Island) Boat Trip
Take a 20-minute boat ride from the Kep pier. The boats are traditional wooden vessels; ensure you ask for life jackets for the kids.
Shallow Water Swimming
The main beach on Rabbit Island has very calm, shallow water, making it incredibly safe for toddlers and young swimmers.
Island Hammock Nap
Rent a beach hut for a few dollars. It’s the perfect place for a mid-day family nap with the sound of the waves in the background.
Return to Kep Mainland
Head back before the sea gets choppy in the late afternoon. Spend the evening relaxing at your hotel pool.
Day 4: Kep, Cambodia - Countryside Discoveries
Sothy's Pepper Farm
A short tuk-tuk ride into the countryside. This organic farm offers free tours where kids can see how the world-famous Kampot pepper grows.
Secret Lake (Brung Thom)
A scenic reservoir surrounded by hills. While you can't swim everywhere, the views are beautiful, and there are small local eateries nearby for a quiet lunch.
Kep Salt Fields
Located on the way back to town, these fields are a sight to behold during the dry season. It's a great way to show kids where salt comes from.

Provincial Picnic
Pack a lunch and head to the shaded areas near the colonial ruins. Kep is famous for its abandoned French villas, which provide a hauntingly beautiful backdrop.

Day 6: Kep, Cambodia - Relaxation and Departure
Resort Leisure Morning
Spend your final morning enjoying the facilities of your resort. Many Kep hotels feature beautiful salt-water pools and lush gardens.
Final Seafood Feast
Return to the Crab Market for one last meal of pepper crab or fresh prawns before you head out.
Souvenir Shopping
Pick up some vacuum-sealed Kampot pepper and local handicrafts from the shops along the beach road.
Departure Transfer
Head back to the airport or your next destination via private car or bus.
Best Time & Weather
The best time to visit Kep is during the dry season, from November to April, when the skies are clear and the seas are calm. This is ideal for family beach days and boat trips. December and January are the coolest months, making outdoor exploration more comfortable for young children. The monsoon season (May to October) can bring heavy afternoon rains, which may disrupt boat schedules to Rabbit Island.
Currency & Money
Cambodia operates on a dual-currency system using the US Dollar (USD) and the Cambodian Riel (KHR). For a budget of $28.00 per day, you will mostly use KHR for small purchases and USD for larger meals or accommodation. ATMs are available in Kep town but can be infrequent, so it is wise to carry some cash. Tipping is not mandatory but highly appreciated by local waitstaff and tuk-tuk drivers.
Getting Around
The most popular way to get around Kep is by tuk-tuk, which is affordable and fun for kids. For families, renting a private car for day trips to pepper farms is more comfortable. Many resorts also offer bicycle rentals with child seats. The town itself is small enough that the coastal stretch can be covered on foot, and the main boardwalk is very stroller-friendly compared to other Cambodian cities.
