The Itinerary
Day 1: Karachi, Pakistan - Coastal Charms and History
Mohatta Palace Museum
Start your morning at this stunning 20th-century palace built with pink Jodhpur stone. The gardens are beautifully manicured and stroller-friendly, providing a quiet escape from the city. Inside, you'll find rotating art exhibits and historical artifacts that showcase the region's heritage.
Dolmen Mall Clifton
Head to this modern shopping center for a comfortable lunch. It is the most stroller-accessible spot in the city, featuring clean family rooms and 'Sindbad’s Wonderland,' a massive indoor theme park that will keep the kids entertained for hours while you enjoy the air conditioning.
Clifton Sea View Beach
No trip to Karachi is complete without a visit to the beach. Enjoy a relaxed stroll along the promenade. For a small fee, the kids can enjoy a decorated camel or horse ride along the shoreline, a quintessential Karachi experience.
Port Grand
This pedestrian-only food and entertainment enclave is perfect for families. Built along the 19th-century Native Jetty Bridge, it offers a safe environment for kids to run around while you sample a variety of local and international cuisines overlooking the harbor.
Day 2: Karachi, Pakistan - Icons and Aviation
Mazar-e-Quaid (Jinnah's Mausoleum)
Visit the final resting place of Pakistan's founder. The iconic white marble dome is surrounded by vast, lush green parks. The wide pathways are excellent for strollers, and the changing of the guard ceremony is a fascinating sight for children.
Pakistan Air Force (PAF) Museum
This is a favorite for families. The outdoor park features dozens of real aircraft, helicopters, and jets that kids can see up close. There are plenty of shaded benches and small snack kiosks, making it an easy place to spend a relaxed afternoon.
Karachi Safari Park
Located in the Gulshan-e-Iqbal area, this park offers a 'Safari Drive' where you can see animals from the safety of your vehicle or a park bus. It also features a large lake and a play area, providing a natural break from the urban environment.
Boat Basin Food Street
End your day at one of the most famous food streets in the city. The area is lively but manageable. Grab an outdoor table and try the famous 'Cheese Paratha' or 'Chicken Karahi' from local staples like Hanifia or Tandoori Hut.
Day 3: Karachi, Pakistan - Gardens and Naval History
Pakistan Maritime Museum
Similar to the PAF museum, this naval-themed park is expansive and well-maintained. The indoor galleries are air-conditioned, and the outdoor area features a real submarine and minesweeper ship that older kids will find enthralling.
Frere Hall and Gardens
This Venetian Gothic-style building is a relic of the British Raj. While the upstairs library is quiet, the surrounding 'Bagh-e-Jinnah' gardens are perfect for a family picnic. The pathways are paved, making it easy to navigate with a stroller.
Hill Park
Built on a hilltop, this park offers some of the best views of Karachi’s skyline. It features a small amusement park for children (Fun City) and plenty of space for a gentle late-afternoon walk as the sun begins to set.
Do Darya Dining
For your final dinner, head to the Do Darya area in DHA Phase 8. This is a long stretch of restaurants built right on the water. The atmosphere is upscale yet family-friendly, with the sound of the waves providing a perfect backdrop for your last night in Karachi.
Best Time & Weather
The best time to visit Karachi is between November and February. During these winter months, the weather is pleasant and dry, with temperatures ranging from 15°C to 28°C (59°F to 82°F). This is ideal for outdoor activities and beach visits. Summers (March to June) can be extremely hot and humid, while the monsoon season (July to September) can bring heavy rains that may disrupt travel plans.
Currency & Money
The local currency is the Pakistani Rupee (PKR). While major malls, hotels, and upscale restaurants accept international credit cards (Visa and Mastercard), it is essential to carry cash for smaller shops, street food, and park entry fees. Tipping is customary in Karachi; a small tip of 5-10% at restaurants or rounding up the fare for taxis and delivery drivers is widely appreciated.
Getting Around
The most efficient and safest way for families to get around Karachi is by using ride-hailing apps like Careem or Uber. You can choose different car types (including larger 'Business' or 'Plus' cars for more space). For a more local experience, you can try a colorful Rickshaw for short distances, but these are not stroller-friendly. Avoid public buses as they are often overcrowded and difficult to navigate with children.
