Best Time to Visit Jordan
The ideal time to visit Jordan is during the spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November). During these months, the temperatures are pleasantly warm (18°C to 25°C), making it perfect for exploring the ruins of Petra or hiking in Wadi Rum. Summers can be intensely hot, especially in the desert and the Dead Sea, while winters can be surprisingly cold and rainy in Amman.
Currency & Money
The local currency is the Jordanian Dinar (JOD), which is pegged to the US Dollar at a rate of approximately 1 JOD = 1.41 USD. High-end hotels, restaurants, and shops in Amman, Petra, and Aqaba widely accept major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Amex). However, it is essential to carry cash for tips, small purchases in local markets, and when visiting more remote areas like Wadi Rum. Tipping (Baksheesh) is a standard practice; 10% is usually added to restaurant bills, but an additional tip for exceptional service is always appreciated.
Getting Around Jordan
For a luxury traveler, the best way to navigate Jordan is via private chauffeured transfers or renting a premium vehicle. The country’s roads are generally well-maintained. Domestic flights between Amman and Aqaba are operated by Royal Jordanian and are the most efficient way to travel between the north and south. While public JETT buses exist, they do not offer the flexibility or comfort required for a premium itinerary. There are currently no passenger train services operational for tourism in Jordan.
