Day 1: Rosebank & Northern Suburbs - Parks and Wildlife

Best Time & Weather
The best time to visit Johannesburg is during the shoulder seasons: Spring (September to November) and Autumn (March to May). During these months, the weather is pleasantly warm and sunny without the intense heat of mid-summer or the dry chill of winter. Summer (December to February) often brings dramatic late-afternoon thunderstorms, which are spectacular to watch but can interrupt outdoor park visits.
Currency & Money
The local currency is the South African Rand (ZAR). Credit and debit cards (Visa and Mastercard) are universally accepted in malls, museums, and restaurants. However, it is useful to carry a small amount of cash for tipping car guards and small street vendors. Tipping is standard practice in South Africa; 10-15% of the bill at restaurants is expected.
Getting Around
