Day 1: Arrival & Exploring Athens
Arrival at Athens International Airport

Check-in near Syntagma Square
Drop your bags at a centrally located hotel. Syntagma is the transport hub of the city, making it easy to navigate without long walks for small children.
National Garden Exploration

Day 3: Athens to Nafplio - Seaside Transition
Intercity Travel to Nafplio
Board a comfortable KTEL bus or pick up a rental car for the 2-hour drive to Nafplio. The route is scenic and passes over the impressive Corinth Canal.
Arrival & Port Promenade
Nafplio is arguably Greece's most beautiful town. Start with a walk along the wide, paved harbor promenade with views of the Bourtzi Castle in the bay.
Syntagma Square Nafplio
Unlike its Athens namesake, this square is a pedestrian-only marble piazza where local children play while parents enjoy a coffee at nearby cafes.
Gelato at Antica Gelateria di Roma

Day 4: Nafplio - Fortresses & Beaches
Palamidi Fortress (By Car)

Arvanitia Beach Walk

Day 5: Nafplio - History Day Trip
Ancient Theatre of Epidaurus

Departure for Airport
Head to the airport via the X95 express bus or Metro. Ensure you arrive 3 hours early to handle tax-free shopping and family security lanes.
Best Time to Visit Greece
The ideal time for a family trip to Greece is during the shoulder seasons: Spring (April to June) and Autumn (September to October). During these months, the weather is pleasantly warm but not scorching, and the crowds at major archaeological sites are much thinner. Summer (July and August) can be extremely hot, which may be challenging for young children and makes stroller-pushing much more taxing.
Currency & Money
Greece uses the Euro (€). Credit and debit cards are widely accepted in hotels, larger restaurants, and shops in Athens and Nafplio. However, it is always wise to carry some cash for small purchases at kiosks, bakeries, or for tipping.
