Day 1: Flåm, Norway - Tracks and History
Flåm Railway Museum
Start your journey at this free museum right next to the train station. It provides a fascinating look at the engineering marvel behind the Flåmsbana railway. It is entirely stroller-friendly and small enough to keep kids entertained with vintage train cars and interactive exhibits.
Flåmsbana - The Flåm Railway
Board what is often called the world's most beautiful train journey. The 20km ride climbs from sea level to 866 meters. The train moves slowly, and the large windows are perfect for kids to spot waterfalls. The stop at Kjosfossen waterfall features music and a dancing Huldra (forest spirit) that children usually find magical.
Lunch at Flåm Bakeri
Located in the heart of the village, this bakery is famous for its sourdough bread and cinnamon rolls (Skillingsboller). It is a perfect, relaxed spot for a family lunch with plenty of outdoor seating and easy access for strollers.
Flåm Beach and Playground
End the day at the local beach and adjacent playground. The water is calm, and the playground is built with natural materials, offering a safe space for children to run while parents enjoy the fjord views. It is a strictly relaxed end to your first day.
Day 2: Flåm, Norway - Into the Fjord
Fjord Cruise Nærøyfjord
Board an award-winning electric vessel for a silent cruise through the UNESCO-listed Nærøyfjord. These modern boats have wide, flat decks and elevators, making them exceptionally stroller-friendly. The silence of the electric motor ensures a peaceful environment for napping toddlers or curious kids looking for seals.
Njardarheimr Viking Valley
Upon arriving in Gudvangen via the cruise, visit this authentic Viking village. Unlike a static museum, this is a living village where kids can try their hand at axe throwing (safely supervised) or watch blacksmiths at work. Shuttle Bus back to Flåm
The return trip to Flåm via the shuttle bus takes about 20 minutes through the Gudvanga Tunnel. The buses are equipped to handle strollers in the luggage compartments, and the short duration is ideal for tired children.

Day 3: Flåm, Norway - Panoramas and Pastures
Stegastein Viewpoint
Take the dedicated sightseeing bus from Flåm to this architectural wonder. The platform juts out 30 meters from the mountainside, providing a panoramic view of the Aurlandsfjord. The bus ride is scenic, and the viewpoint is fully paved and accessible for strollers.
Otternes Farm
Visit this historic farm collective consisting of 27 buildings from the 1700s. It is a short, easy walk or drive from Flåm. It offers wide-open spaces for kids to explore and a fascinating glimpse into how Norwegian families lived centuries ago.
Aurland Village Walk
A short bus or taxi ride takes you to the neighboring village of Aurland. It is much quieter than Flåm and perfect for a slow afternoon stroll along the waterfront. Visit the local shoemaker museum or simply enjoy a gelato by the docks.

Celebrate the end of your 3-day journey at the Flåm Marina. The restaurant offers a high-quality menu with plenty of space for families to sit by the water. It’s the perfect spot to watch the sunset over the fjord while the kids enjoy the seaside atmosphere.
Best Time & Weather
The best time to visit Flåm with a family is between late May and early September. During these months, the weather is mild (averaging 15°C to 20°C), and all attractions are open. The long daylight hours of the Norwegian summer allow for a very relaxed pace, as there is no rush to finish activities before dark. Be prepared for occasional rain even in summer; waterproof gear for kids is essential.
Currency & Money
Norway uses the Norwegian Krone (NOK). The country is nearly cashless, and you can pay for everything—from the smallest souvenir to the Flåm Railway—using a credit or debit card. Getting Around
Flåm is a very small village where almost everything in the center is reachable on foot.
