With a relaxed pace and stroller-friendly stops, you'll explore lush gardens, vibrant markets, and wildlife sanctuaries.
Traveling with little ones in Fiji is made easy by the 'Bula' hospitality. We have curated a route that uses the comfortable Queens Road highway to connect Nadi, the Coral Coast, and the capital city of Suva, providing a mix of educational experiences and tropical relaxation that suits all ages.
Day 1: Nadi, Fiji - Island Arrival & Port Explorations
Arrival at Nadi International Airport
Complete your customs clearance and take a pre-arranged shuttle to your resort. The airport is modern and easy to navigate with strollers.
Port Denarau Marina
Enjoy a casual lunch at this stroller-accessible marina. The wooden boardwalks are perfect for a gentle walk while watching the catamarans depart for the outer islands.
Denarau Beach Walk
The resorts along Denarau are connected by a flat, paved path. It is an ideal spot for a sunset stroll with a stroller, offering beautiful ocean views without the struggle of sand.
Bula Braids and Local Dinner
Let the kids get traditional hair braids at the resort before enjoying a family-friendly dinner featuring 'Kokoda' (Fijian raw fish salad) for the adults and fresh fruit platters for the kids.
Day 2: Sigatoka, Fiji - Wildlife & River Wonders
Scenic Drive to the Coral Coast
Travel south along the Queens Road for about 90 minutes. The roads are well-paved, making for a smooth journey for sleeping toddlers.
Kula WILD Adventure Park
Fiji's biggest family fun park. Walk along elevated wooden walkways through the forest canopy—completely stroller friendly—to see colorful iguanas, parrots, and hawks.
Sigatoka River Picnic
Relax by the banks of the Sigatoka River. The area near the town bridge offers accessible spots to watch the famous jet boats zip by while the kids enjoy a quiet picnic.
Sigatoka Market Visit
A vibrant, sensory experience. The aisles are wide enough for a compact stroller, allowing you to browse local root crops and tropical fruits like papaya and pineapple.
Day 3: Suva, Fiji - History & Garden Strolls
Fiji Museum & Thurston Gardens
Located in the capital, the museum offers a fascinating look at Fiji's maritime history. The surrounding Thurston Gardens feature flat, paved paths and giant fig trees that provide ample shade.
Lunch at the Grand Pacific Hotel
Known as the 'Grand Old Lady' of Suva, this historic hotel is fully accessible and offers a high-chair-friendly veranda overlooking the Suva Harbour.
My Suva Picnic Park
A favorite for local families. This oceanfront park has a playground and a long seawall path that is perfect for burning off some energy before the drive back.
Evening Relaxation in Suva
Explore the nearby shopping malls like TappooCity, which are air-conditioned and offer clean baby-changing facilities and various food court options.
Day 4: Nadi, Fiji - Botanical Beauty & Mud Pools
Garden of the Sleeping Giant
Located at the foot of the Sabeto Mountains, this garden features a large collection of orchids. The main paths are flat and canopy-covered, making it a cool morning retreat.
Sabeto Hot Springs and Mud Pool
A fun, tactile experience for older children. While the mud pools aren't for strollers, there are shaded seating areas for family members to watch the 'mud-bathing' fun.
Vuda Point Marina Lunch
A quiet, circular marina with a relaxed atmosphere. It is much less crowded than Denarau, offering a peaceful final meal before heading to the airport.
Nadi Airport Departure
Return your rental car or drop off your shuttle at the terminal. Enjoy the air-conditioned departures lounge which features a dedicated children's play area.
Best Time to Visit Fiji
The best time to visit Fiji is during the dry season, from May to October. During these months, the weather is sunny and the humidity is lower, which is much more comfortable for young children and infants. The 'shoulder' months of May and October offer the best balance of great weather and fewer crowds at major attractions.
Currency & Money
The local currency is the Fijian Dollar (FJD). While major resorts and shops in Nadi and Suva accept credit cards (Visa and Mastercard), it is essential to carry cash for local markets and smaller cafes along the Coral Coast. Tipping is not mandatory in Fiji, but a small gratuity for exceptional service is always appreciated by the friendly local staff.
Getting Around Fiji
For families, the most comfortable way to get around Viti Levu is by renting a car or hiring a private driver. This allows for flexible stops and ensures you have a car seat for safety. The 'Coral Sun' tourist buses are a reliable and air-conditioned alternative for travel between Nadi and Suva, though they follow a fixed schedule that may be less flexible for nap times.
