Best Time to Visit Fiji
The best time to visit Fiji is during the dry season from May to October. During these months, the weather is sunny, less humid, and the visibility for diving and snorkeling is at its peak. The shoulder months of April and November also offer pleasant weather and fewer crowds, though there is a slightly higher chance of rain. The wet season (December to March) can be hot and humid with tropical storms, though it is the best time for lush green landscapes.
Currency & Money
The local currency is the Fijian Dollar (FJD). Credit cards are widely accepted at luxury resorts, high-end restaurants, and major shops. However, it is always advisable to carry some cash for smaller purchases in villages or local markets. Tipping is not mandatory or expected in Fiji, as it is a communal society, but a contribution to the staff Christmas fund at resorts is a common and appreciated way to show gratitude for excellent service.
Getting Around Fiji
For a luxury itinerary, domestic flights and private charters are the most efficient ways to move between island groups. Fiji Link and Northern Air operate regular flights between Nadi, Suva, Savusavu, and Taveuni. For the Mamanuca and Yasawa islands, seaplanes (Turtle Airways) and helicopters (Island Hoppers) offer the fastest and most scenic transport. On the main island of Viti Levu, private chauffeured cars or luxury rental SUVs are the best options for intercity travel along the Coral Coast.
