Best Time to Visit Fiji
The best time to visit Fiji is during the dry season, which runs from May to October. During these months, you’ll enjoy sunny days, lower humidity, and cooler evenings. This is also the peak time for visibility if you are interested in diving or snorkeling. The wet season (November to April) brings higher temperatures and the occasional tropical storm, though it offers the lush, green landscapes Fiji is famous for and fewer crowds at luxury resorts.
Currency & Money
The local currency is the Fijian Dollar (FJD). While luxury resorts and high-end boutiques in Nadi and Suva accept major credit cards (Visa and Mastercard are most common), it is essential to carry some cash for tips, local markets, or small village visits. Tipping is not mandatory in Fiji but is greatly appreciated for exceptional service; many resorts also have a 'Staff Christmas Fund' box where guests can leave a collective tip for the entire team.
Getting Around Fiji
For a luxury itinerary, domestic flights and private transfers are the preferred methods of transport. Fiji Link and Northern Air operate domestic routes between Nadi, Suva, Savusavu, and Taveuni. For island transfers, private helicopters or speedboats offer a faster and more scenic alternative to the public ferries. On the main island of Viti Levu, private chauffeured vehicles are the most comfortable way to navigate the Coral Coast and the capital city of Suva.
