Day 1: Corfu Town - History and Hidden Alleys
Old Fortress (Paleo Frourio)
Explore this Venetian masterpiece for a small fee or simply admire the massive dry moat and stonework from the entrance. The surrounding park offers great photo ops of the bay without spending a cent.
Spianada Square & Liston
Walk through the largest square in Greece and admire the French-inspired Liston colonnade. For lunch, grab a pita gyro from a local shop for under 5 euros to eat while people-watching.

Best Time & Weather
The best time to visit Corfu for budget travelers is during the shoulder seasons: May to June or September to early October. During these months, the weather is warm enough for swimming (22°C to 26°C), but accommodation prices are significantly lower than the July-August peak. Most attractions remain open, and the island is much less crowded.
Currency & Money
