Best Time to Visit Brunei
The best time to visit Brunei is between February and April when the weather is generally drier and cooler. However, Brunei is a year-round destination. Avoid the peak of the rainy season from October to December if you plan on extensive rainforest trekking. Visiting during Hari Raya (after Ramadan) is also spectacular as the Istana Nurul Iman palace opens its doors to the public.
Currency & Money
Brunei uses the Brunei Dollar (BND), which is pegged 1:1 with the Singapore Dollar. Both currencies are widely accepted in the Sultanate. While luxury hotels and major retailers accept international credit cards (Visa/Mastercard), carrying cash is recommended for smaller vendors and water taxis. Tipping is not mandatory but appreciated for exceptional service in high-end establishments.
Getting Around Brunei
The most efficient and luxurious way to navigate Brunei is by private car rental or chauffeur service. There are no trains in Brunei, and while public buses exist, they do not cater to the luxury traveler. For inter-district travel to Temburong, the new CCK Bridge has made travel much faster, though private boat charters remain a scenic option for the water village and national park access.
