Day 1: Aarhus C - Art, Rainbows, and Greenhouses
ARoS Aarhus Art Museum
Start your trip at one of Europe's largest art museums. The highlight for kids is 'Your rainbow panorama,' a circular walkway on the roof with glass in all the colors of the spectrum. It is fully stroller-accessible and offers a magical view of the city.
Aarhus Street Food
Located in an old bus garage near the station, this is the perfect spot for a family lunch. With over 30 stalls, everyone can pick their favorite cuisine, and the long communal tables make it easy to manage kids and strollers.
Botanical Garden & Greenhouses
A short walk from the center, the Greenhouses in the Botanical Garden offer four different climate zones. Kids love the tropical house with its butterfly collection and the hidden jungle paths.

Marselisborg Deer Park (Dyrehaven)

The Infinite Bridge (Den Uendelige Bro)
Located at Varna Beach, this circular wooden pier allows you to walk out into the sea and back to shore. It is a fantastic spot for photos and for kids to feel the sea breeze safely.
Moesgaard Museum
Even if you aren't 'museum people,' Moesgaard is a must. The building itself has a grass-covered roof that kids can run up. Inside, the exhibits on human evolution are incredibly tactile and visually engaging.
Marselisborg Marina
Enjoy a seafood dinner overlooking the yachts. The marina has a very relaxed vibe and several restaurants that offer high chairs and kid-specific menus.
Day 4: Aarhus Ø - Modern Waterfront Fun
DOKK1 Library & Playground
DOKK1 is not just a library; it’s a community hub. The outdoor playground 'Kloden' features giant interactive sculptures and slides. Inside, there are dedicated play zones for toddlers and older kids.
Aarhus Ø Architecture Walk
Explore the futuristic harbor district. See 'The Iceberg' (Isbjerget) building and let the kids watch the swimmers at the Aarhus Harbour Bath (Havnebadet), designed by Bjarke Ingels Group.
Salling ROOFTOP
Head back to the pedestrian street (Strøget) and go to the top of Salling department store. There is a glass skywalk for the brave and a lovely garden café with panoramic views of the city.
Final Dinner at Pustervig
End your trip in the quiet Pustervig square. It's a car-free area where kids can move around safely while you enjoy a final Danish meal at one of the surrounding bistros.
Best Time & Weather
The best time to visit Aarhus is from late May to early September. During these months, the days are long and the weather is mild enough for outdoor activities. July and August are the warmest but also the busiest. If you prefer a quieter experience, late May and June offer beautiful blooming gardens and fewer crowds.
Currency & Money
The local currency is the Danish Krone (DKK). Denmark is one of the most card-friendly countries in the world; you can pay with a credit card or mobile payment at almost every stall, museum, and bus. Tipping is not expected as service charges are included in the bill, though rounding up for exceptional service is appreciated.
Getting Around
Aarhus is highly walkable, especially the central Latin Quarter. For longer distances, the 'Letbane' (light rail) and the yellow city buses are excellent and stroller-friendly. If you plan on using public transport frequently, the AarhusCard is your best value option as it includes all bus and light rail travel within the city limits.
