Best Time to Visit Fiji
The best time to visit Fiji is during the dry season, which runs from May to October. During these months, you'll enjoy clear blue skies, lower humidity, and the best visibility for diving and snorkeling. July and August are the peak months, so booking luxury resorts well in advance is essential. The 'shoulder' months of May and October offer a perfect balance of great weather and slightly fewer crowds.
Currency & Money
The local currency is the Fijian Dollar (FJD). While luxury resorts and major retailers in Nadi and Suva accept all major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, Amex), it is wise to carry some cash for local markets or small village visits. Tipping is not mandatory or traditionally expected in Fiji, but a contribution to the 'Staff Christmas Fund' at resorts is a common and highly appreciated way to show gratitude for excellent service.
Getting Around Fiji
For a luxury itinerary, the best way to travel between islands is via seaplane or helicopter, which provides breathtaking views and saves hours of travel time. On the main island of Viti Levu, private chauffeured transfers are the gold standard. For inter-island sea travel, the South Sea Cruises 'Captain’s Lounge' offers a premium experience on their high-speed catamarans. Domestic flights via Fiji Link are reliable for longer distances to Vanua Levu or Taveuni.
