Best Time to Visit Brunei
Brunei is a year-round destination, but the best time to visit is during the dry season from February to April. October to January sees heavier rainfall, which can make jungle trekking in Temburong more challenging but turns the rainforest into a vibrant, lush paradise. If you visit during Hari Raya (after Ramadan), the palace often opens to the public for three days.
Currency & Money
Brunei uses the Brunei Dollar (BND), which is pegged 1:1 with the Singapore Dollar (SGD). In fact, Singaporean notes are widely accepted in Brunei. While cards are accepted in major malls, cash is essential for the night markets, buses, and water taxis. Tipping is not part of the culture, so the price you see is usually what you pay.
Getting Around Brunei
The public bus system (known as the purple buses) is the most budget-friendly way to get around BSB, with fares costing around 1 BND. For travel between districts, long-distance buses are available at the central station. For short trips, the 'Dart' app is Brunei's version of Uber/Grab and is much cheaper than traditional taxis. For Temburong, the CCK Bridge bus or a speed boat from the jetty are your primary options.
