For this specific route through India, Sri Lanka, and the Maldives, the best time to visit is generally between December and April. However, traveling in July offers a unique perspective. In India, the monsoon brings a dramatic beauty to the landscapes and fewer tourists at major monuments. In Sri Lanka, the July 'Gathering' of elephants in Minneriya is a world-class wildlife spectacle. The Maldives in July is the wet season, but luxury resorts offer exceptional value, and the rain often comes in short, refreshing tropical bursts rather than lasting all day.
Visas & Border Crossings
Visa requirements vary significantly. India requires most nationalities to apply for an e-Visa in advance (usually valid for 30-90 days). Sri Lanka also operates an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) system which is quick and efficient. The Maldives is famous for its 'Visa on Arrival' policy for almost all nationalities, provided you have a confirmed resort booking. When crossing between these countries, always have digital and printed copies of your onward flight tickets and hotel vouchers, as immigration officers frequently request them.
Getting Around Asia
